Concrete shows up twice on a new build: at the very beginning, when nothing else can proceed until it is done, and again at the end, when the driveway and walkways go in and the project can finally be handed over.
SM Construction LLC takes on new construction concrete across Phoenix and the surrounding Valley — for custom homes, additions, casitas, outbuildings and light commercial work — either as the full concrete package or for individual stages.
What This Work Solves
Everything downstream depends on this
Framing cannot start until the foundation is poured and inspected. Being ready when we said we would be is the single most useful thing a concrete subcontractor does on a new build.
Plans and reality do not always agree
Site conditions, existing grade and what is actually in the ground rarely match the drawings exactly. Spotting the gap early and raising it beats discovering it on the morning of a pour.
Multiple trades in the same trench
Plumbing, electrical and mechanical all have work that has to be in and inspected before concrete. Coordinating that sequence is part of the job, not somebody else's problem.
Finish work at the end of a long project
Driveways, walkways and patios go in when the budget is tight and everyone is ready to be finished. They are also the first thing anyone sees, so they get the same attention as the foundation did.

How We Do It
Review the plans
We price from the drawings, and flag anything in the concrete scope that looks likely to cause a problem on site before it becomes one.
Sequence with the build
Concrete stages are placed into the project schedule, with the inspections and the other trades' work each one depends on identified.
Foundation stage
Excavation, footings, forming, steel, embeds and the foundation pour, coordinated around the required inspections.
Interior and structural slabs
Garage slabs, outbuilding slabs and any interior concrete, poured as the build reaches each stage.
Flatwork at completion
Driveways, walkways, patios and approaches, poured once the trades that would damage them are finished.
Handover
Joints cut, site left clean, and clear information on when each area can be used and loaded.
New Construction Concrete: Common Questions
Do you take on the whole concrete package or individual stages?
Either. Some clients want one subcontractor from footings through to the final flatwork; others need a single stage covered. Tell us which you are after and the estimate will be scoped to it.
Do you work for general contractors and builders?
Yes, regularly, and we are happy to be added to a subcontractor or vendor list. Licensing, bonding and insurance documentation is available whenever you need it for your files.
Can you price from plans without a site visit?
We can produce an estimate from drawings, and for straightforward scopes that is often enough. For anything where access, grade or existing site conditions matter, we will want to walk the site — an estimate that ignores those tends not to survive contact with the job.
How far in advance should I book concrete on a new build?
As early as you can. Foundation dates in particular are worth locking in well ahead, because they are the ones the rest of the schedule hangs off. Get in touch as soon as you have a target date and we will tell you honestly what we can commit to.
